Hi,
I have a Mac Book Pro mid 2012 with OS Sierra 10.12 recently installed. When I tried to save a develloped pic in Affinity Photo it crashed and I loose the Photo. It has crashed before with Nikon View software.

What is the best way to appooach this and what info do you need to know and if it is a crash report how do I obtain it?

I have no idea what to do next?

Thanks for any help

Did just the app crash (and close) or did the entire MBP crash and restart? If the latter, then you might have a panic log that will helpful to see. If the crash is isolated to a specific application/action, you should ensure that you are running the latest version of that app and it supports Sierra specifically. Just because it works on Sierra, unfortunately, isn't enough to confirm that it won't crash doing something Sierra doesn't like/allow that previous versions of macOS allowed..

Just checked that Affinity Photo 1.52 (the latest version) has support for macOS 10.12 Sierra. So you should be definitely running that version.

Just by way of confirmation, I have Affinity (1.5.2) and macOS Sierra 10.12.6 and Affinity works fine; both as a standalone app and as an extension to Photos.

You said:
with OS Sierra 10.12 recently installed

What is your current version of Sierra - 10.12.6? And is your version of Affinity the latest and did it work before the Sierra upgrade - because I think I'm right in saying that Affinity worked with 10.11.x.

Hi to all, Ashwin and Ian,
I updated the nikon software after emailing nikon.
I did not know how to copy the crash report, copy and paste were not available.
Computer did not seems to crash anymore.
But responds like a snake, had to restart computer to open safari I timed it it took 40 sec. Some apps don't seem to close after using different ones.( Cannot remember if that was always so, that they stayed on the bottom bar with a black dot below until I shut down the mac.)
I enclose etrecheck report, which I could copy:

EtreCheck version: 3.4.6 (460)
Report generated 2017-10-15 22:53:10
Download EtreCheck from https://etrecheck.com

Did this issue start AFTER you installed the paid version of Malwarebytes? (I don't recommend that because it wastes system resources)

Hi Harry,
No the problem did not start after malwarebites as far as I remember, and I tried to update it and it confirms I have the latest version.
But I will uninstall it, just in case that it improves the situation.
I will keep the threat updated.
Thanks frankluky

Just a thought. The MBP has 4GB of memory and a HDD. I noticed that 15 process were killed due to insufficient memory. Also several apps have crashed. There seems to be an app using a lot of CPU time - com.apple.WebKit.Networking. This is a process associated with Safari and webpage validity checking. If you have a lot of webpages open that could be the reason. I would be curious to see how much swapping is going on in the Activity Monitor under memory.

Anyway, you might be seeing the effects of not enough memory (4GB is low, 8GB is better) and possibly a failing HDD - although I am not ready to say that is the issue. If you were to install an SSD drive that would help speed things up as they are much faster than a mechanical HDD. You would also get a boost by adding memory.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your help,
Since That I have uninstalled malewarebytes, all nikon apps, the macbook is faster and not crashing. I had a lot of wepages open. Then I have used the latest onyx.
But I am considering how it goes to decide about Memory upgrade but it seems a good idea (circa 60-100 Euro).
Thanks again
