What free software to use for retrieving deleted files

Im looking for a piece of free software that can retrieve deleted files. Any ideas?

Hi, I'm looking for a politician that always tells the truth and will vote the will of his constituents no matter what. Oh, and works for free.

Typical a load of sarcastic people - You can get free editions of anti virus software, video converters etc. So why not this?

There do not exist any data retrieval apps that are free for any operating system that I am aware of. They all start out at about $100 and go up from there.

Why? Because the starting price to have someone else do it for you begins around the $2,000 price range (they offer no guarantees for that money) and no one that is capable of doing it has ever volunteered up a free app for it.

I had a free lunch once. They're said not to exist.

The reason you're getting sarcasm is because if your priority is a free tool over actually getting something that works, you're obviously not very serious about recovering those files ... so why should we be?
