I usually use Firefox for all of my web browsing and we are now on the latest Firefox Quantum 66.0.3 (64-bit) and when I tried to sign on to the Mac forum here I had to change my password. I also had to sign on again. When I signed on with the new password it seemed to accept it and I was in. BUT when I went to the forum I was logged out.

So I signed on again and it was accepted, but again when the screen refreshed to the forum screen I was signed out again. It carried on in that loop.

At the moment I am signed on with Safari and it is a programme that I have never been really happy with. I like Firefox. Has anyone else had this problem?

Another problem with the new Firefox is that we had a banner across the top of the screen this morning telling me that some of the add-ons had been disabled. Duckduckgo was one of them. It gives some alternatives and the two top ones are google. I want to try to steer clear of that lot as much as possible and have used 'ddg' for quite a while since it was recommended on here.

Is this the way Firefox is going now, into the google trap?

Yes I'm in the same boat but have just swapped to Safari as my default after an 8 year hiatus and installed the AdGuard extension on Firefox and Safari. Jonzjob you too might like to revisit Safari, it really has improved a lot, it's just different to Chromium browsers. Also AdGuard has anti tracking and phishing protection improved with Duck Duck Go which I do now use with Safari.
Either way I think the exclusion will be short lived.

Firefox used to be my main browser as well, but since they started with Quantum, I lose my log-in information on most websites when I do a FF up issue - most annoying having to put all that info in for every website again, not just this one.

For Mac-Forum and a few other sites that I visit daily or even more often, I have switched to the Brave browser.
Loads faster, has built in ad and tracking blockers - haven't had any problems with that browser, but it's still not my default browser.

Aha! I didn't think it would last long.

Have the same problem with Firefox 66.0.3 as of a few minutes ago. Apparently a certificate that supports these add-ons has expired and Firefox has disabled all add-ons until they have a fix.

FF is no longer my main browser, but checking and using the same 66.x version, I don't seem to have any such problems so I guess I don't have a missing or expired certificate that seems to be the cause of the problem.

The same error as reported by John was likewise reported and discussed over in the MacRumors Forum. Seems like FF made some changes which caused the problem. Another reason why I gave up on FF long ago.

Good link Patrick. I already had the studies preferences ticked and I now see marked as done on the "fix" mentioned. Very handy for others though.

I had the same trouble a few weeks ago. It has now resolved except every time I select 'new posts', I get a message saying a web page is slowing the browser, do I want to wait or shut it down? I say shut and it takes me where I want.

Testing, just ignore.

It seeems I can't post here nor does the Restore Auto-Save Content send when invoked.

======

EDIT:

Well that worked obviously, but the Restore Auto-Save Content won't send. Strange.

Oh well.

And It won't send from here if I paste the saved Restore Auto-Save Content text as I just tried.

Something's goofy and I don't think it's anything to do at my end.

PS: How do I get rid of the "Restore Auto-Save Content" from the "Quick Reply" that's showing just below this message??? Cancel does't work.
