Safari is now reporting the site is unresponsive and then that there are too many redirects. Opera is seeing it just fine, so I don't know if it Safari, the site or what.

I get too many redirects on Chrome as well; Firefox just gives me a blank page.
That's when I log into the home page.

But the emojis are all back for me - that's great!

Finally got the site to load by visiting email response link. Previously blank like krs example although Chrome would open the site. Replaced my unresponsive Firefox bookmark with new bookmark of home page and noticed the icon has changed. Interesting!

Getting back to the op. We've just got back from the Apple shop. We'd taken the macbook for the malware problem which it turns out, I had got rid of with Malware Bytes but needed to change my search engine in Firefox. The bloke that saw us checked the battery and a few other things and it's all back to normal now.
With the iMac, it appears that the memory (is it ram?) of 8ghz is getting pretty full and to put more memory in this is a big job, it being the slimline model that's glued together... hardly worth trying. Anyway, he knocked a few things off of the start up and and it certainly seems a bit quicker; I timed it at 4 min's from pressing the button until I could get Firefox up on the screen, which is better than it was. I now can't decide whether or not to update the macbook from 10.12.6 to the latest Mojave. I'm a bit dubious in case it slows this down. What do you people think?

Just make sure you have a reliable backup before updating to Mojave. If things go wrong you can always then revert to your old macOS. We recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to make a cloned backup before updating.

Glad they're fixed. Sometimes hands on is the only way. You may find Mojave is faster than your current macOS. Really 8Gb RAM should be enough. As said do a backup, preferably a clone because it's much easier to revert to what you had, just in case.

I had a trial version of CCC that I never used and now it's run out. The C within a square is still in the task bar, but I can't get rid of it even though 'app cleaner' removed the app. I'll try and download another trial of it and see what happens.

I've just had a look and I'm wondering if I deleted Time Machine from the 500Gb external drive, could I use CCC instead? I just thought it might be worth buying it (when I've saved up) because it has the bootable drive and still looks as though it does the same as Time Machine, but more.

You can use TM and/or CCC or SD!, many of us seem to prefer CCC or even SD! but TM is free even though the others allow almost free usage.

TM = Time Machine
CCC = Carbon Copy Cloner
SD! = Superduper!

PS: I'd be looking at and checking out any real advantages for switching to Mojave before I installed it.
Also check that the apps you use will work with it. For that, check with the developer or:

You may be using some apps that may need upgrading that are commercial upgrades!!! More costs!!

I think the C in the menu bar is a representation of the CCC helper app. This is seperate from the main application and may need to be separately uninstalled. If you do a search for bombich using Find Any File you can locate and delete any traces left over.
If you are thinking of reinstalling it then you don't need to bother. Either way Find Any File is very useful to have. Thomas Tempelmann - Find Any File

Don't let the 8,000 apps count scare you. That's not a count of the apps you have to check. I think it is the number of apps in their database. Basically you enter the site and type in the name of an app that you want to check for compatability.

I think one needs to use that database with a bit of caution.

Last time I looked, there were some apps where the same app was listed under different names and in one case it said it was compatible and the other said it was not.
That's when I found out that the input is just from individual users, so that database is a good start but I would not consider it the gospel.

It's not perfect but will get you the info on most applications. Try various names if needed.
