Some people have too much time on their hands:

Apple may pride itself on its commitment to user privacy and security, but it isn't invulnerable. We now know there is a bug in the latest version of iOS 12 and iOS 12.1 beta that allows those in the know to bypass your passcode and access contacts and photos. This applies to both Face ID and Touch ID-enabled iPhones. Not only do we know about the bug itself, we know exactly how to exploit it.

The bypass requires physical access to the iPhone, Siri enabled and following 37 steps in the correct order; disabling Siri stops this bypass.

While the privacy implication of Siri is good enough for me to disable it, this bypass is just another justification for keeping Siri disabled.

PS: Yes, for testing purposes, I do enable Siri, if and when my clients have issues with using it.

37 steps? It's unlikely that anyone would be that interested in my contacts or photos. Everything else of real value is additionally protected by a password. The FBI might be interested though. Certainly not motivation enough for me to turn off Siri. No doubt Apple will patch it soon.

I never have Touch ID set up to unlock my phone. I use it for Apple Pay, or App purchases only.
