Very common sense there and the permissions is largely related to Android app. iOS apps don't it that way, and Apple is proactively removing apps that do bad things. The Google Play store has absolutely no validation of apps that are submitted to it and as such this is a HUGE problem on Android devices and less of one on iOS.

The process to get an iOS app into the App Store isn't easy or quick. There a lot of analysis that happens during the process and also after the app has gone live. It usually takes about 2 weeks of scrutiny before the first version of your app shows up. Subsequent updates can go through faster depending on the changes.

In contrast, you can get an Android app on the Play store in about 10 minutes and it will be live around the world in a couple of hours. No scrutiny of the app at all.
