Invalid Certificate Warning

Greetings

The warning only appears on Amazon UK and with Safari. Not on Firefox!
Can any kind soul tell me how to get rid of it?

I am running Mavericks on a mid 2011 iMac.

The Amazon UK site is pulling something from that site and that site either doesn't have a valid certificate or that site isn't what it claims to be. We have a number of members who are from the UK, so hopefully they will get a chance to test this out and see if they see it as well.

If they don't report similar issues (which is amazing if it was really on Amazon), then they'll have to fix it, if not, then you might have some malware installed that MalwareBytes might take care of it.

For what's worth - possibly not a lot - my wife and I go on to Amazon several times a day between us, on completely separate Macs and have not encountered this.

We both use Safari, but we are also both on Sierra (rather than Mavericks).

As the OP only gets this on Safari and not Firefox, I'm tempted to think Safari may be the problem; but I'm really quite ignorant about certificates and the like.

This is a popup you have picked up from some shady site. The web site shown in the error message sure ain't Amazon anywhere. Download malwarewbytes for Mac, free3 download is fine, run it, and then do an Erase History and get Develop in Menu Bar and Empty Caches.

Thanks guys, but unfortunately, so far nothing has worked. I already had MalwareBytes installed. Nothing was found. I hadthought that it ran in the background.....

I am now getting the same message from here



So, not just Amazon....

Any way of reinstalling Safari?

Do you know how to Quit Safari? And I don't mean just clicking on the "red circle" or "X", which only closes the window? Go to the top Menu Bar and select Safari > Quit Safari. Then, press and hold "shift" and open Safari again.

Yes, I know how to quit an app and I tried your suggestion starting up again using shift (what is that supposed to do?) but still the pop up appears....

Sorry to be so late replying here and I missed seeing the original post.

I also am running Mavericks on a mid 2011 iMac and I have been getting these same Invalid Certificate Warnings and from various sites for about six month or so now and haven't figured out why.

And if I click on "Show Certificate", it shows that it expires maybe a year or more in the future.

I've stated clicking the "Show Certificate" and the click the "Trust this sit" checkbox.

Sometimes I can just click Cancel and things work as expected if the expected page has already loaded.

Repeating to go to the same site usually works fine. Really strange and weird.

PS: Some pages just don't load properly and appear like a basic HTML text page.

FireFox works fine.

Various cache, history cleanings, Safe Boot etc. have not worked to fix the problem.
I even ran Onyx last month and that din't fix anything at all.

PS: It would sure be nice to find a solution to this and even changing my DNS server settings hasn't helped. And at some times the problem is worse than other times with no reason that I can think of.

It seems more like Apple's Safari programmers forgot to tell Safari how to check certain Certificates and check that they are still valid Bob.

As I mentioned, most such sites that might trigger the notice have often already loaded and work well.

And no problems at all when using Firefox or Google Chrome to go to the same sites.

I'd be interested to know what possible "security issues" there might be when the Certificate is definitely shown as Valid.

I'd say our Safari apps have some sort of problem and unfortunately I haven't been able to track what on my iMac. And may not even be the same problems.

As for the Mitcherooney2 problem, have you tried disabling all your Safari Extensions and maybe restart Safari and see if things improve???


PS: Also note that both of some of the screen shots we posted are blaming "ib.adnxs.com" and I don't know if that's a UK only thing or not. Or if it's tied in with the macromours.com site as I posted in post #10, the page I was accessing at the time.
