Well, I guess he was right the whole time!

Something tells me a lot of people don't think we have an "independent" one.

That's for sure. It's very evident where our Justices' political positions are in many rulings. Just a couple months ago I read an article about an interview with Clarence Thomas where he pretty much said he was disgusted by hated any liberal people or positions. How can you believe a guy like that will be fair and impartial.

But if anyone can think of a better system, speak up.

Say what you will about our judicial branch, but it has proven extremely effective throughout our history. Sure, there have been some discrepancies, but they have been few and far between.

Agreed.

John Marshall made the Supreme Court relevant and this country has been the better for it.

Well, there is a difference between impartial and independent. No one on Earth is impartial. It simply doesn't exist.

As go Thomas himself, the guy is a Constitutionalist with libertarian leanings. He has ruled against the police using thermal imaging to spy into private homes to find Marijuana plants. He has also voted to overturn THOUSANDS of harsher criminal sentences because they were based on fact judges instead of juries as is called for by the Constitution.

BTW, can you supply a link for that interview? I've heard Thomas actually say that he hates the way that liberal believe a black person should behave a certain way. However I have never heard a quote where he has said, or it can be inferred, that he hates liberals.

Exactly. I think it is the most unappreciated branch of our government. That is one of the reasons I wanted to share this link...to show what could happen when there is not an independent court.

Yeah, it kind of took me by surprise too. It's been a while since I read that and I can't remember where, but if I find it, I'll post it.
