I always wondered why people called these "trashcans" or "ashtrays" and now I know.

Original specs:
Xeon e5-2697v2
128GB DDR3
Dual Firepro GPU
1TB SSD

Current specs:
1ft tall cupholder

Got 5+ years out of this beast. Memory upgraded once; GPUs reflowed twice. It worked very well for heating my living room and browsing Reddit.

Thought the $5,000 machine deserved a proper sendoff before recycling. Switching back to my MBP.

A staffer in the London Covent Garden Apple store told me they did have people using the first models for trash!

Hello...???, I would have thought it was **** near impossible to make any good spring water.

PS: I'm sure that His Highness Sir Jonathan Ive would have been most proud to see one of his proudest designs being used at the London Covent Garden Apple store. Even if not quite as he intended. :Smirk:

Yes, the trash can 2013 MP has not proven to be a huge success. I have always wondered what they were thinking.

Now we have a new MP coming out supposedly this fall that looks a lot like the old classic cheese grater MP. With the starting price $5999 for the new and improved MP, I won't be rushing out to get one soon!

And Lisa, let's not forget that wonderful accompanying monitor with its $1000.00 stand. :rofl

Patrick, I can see the option of the stand for those who have plans to separately mount the $5000 XDR 32" screen and do not need the stand. But still, a $5000 monitor, IMO, should include a stand.

I do mount my monitors on separate stands that hold two at a time and they are very movable. I love them but they do require the monitor to be VESA mountable. This does not appear to be the case with the new $5000 model ... so... no XDR for me!!!! :rofl
