Hi Dave,
I used your quotation at my father's funeral many years ago.
In fact, I got the quotation, which I thought was correct, completely wrong.
I was referring to the well known fact, as late teenagers, we think we know it all. In my case, because of WW2, I was born when my father was 36, so, naturally, when I started University at 18, my dad was 54/55 years old. He died at the age of 87.
At the funeral, I misquoted Mark Twain (unknowingly): I said, "when I was 18, I thought dad was out of touch with reality, but when I reached the age of 22, I realised how much he had matured in these 4 years."
So, your accurate quote means a lot to me.
