So first the purpose is to stop the problem of men relieving themselves on buildings in public - so now they have a public bucket? Then it becomes an embarrassing eyesore especially for the tourist industry as at least one is by a popular site. And finally it becomes sexist - which makes me wonder what the women want - public squatty potties??

Ah, but Chas, I was unfortunate enough to have to spend 2 1/2 years in Singapore in the late 60s. That was when I was serving Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd, in the R.A.F. It was ****, but someone had to do it. The only people I ever saw peeing in the street were drunken British servicemen. It didn't really make me too proud to be English at times?

An expression I learned in my 13 years in France was "The World is a Frenchman's toilet" and I found that to be spot on. Apart from the pee problem the dog merde (poo in English.) is one of the major concerns in any big French city. The French just accept it and another saying is that if you step in it with your left foot it will bring luck, with your right foot, bad luck (either that way or the other??? )

Quick edit : - I nearly forgot. It would seem that some of the young ladies there are now yelling sexual inequality? I don't see why they couldn't use them too

You have to admit that the 'Ello Ello' type are a little more modest than these new ones ? Lots of cast iron, but what-ever, they are a strange breed in some ways.
