I don't think Apple need to hurry up because if the rumours are true and there is one on the horizon then all the thinking would have been done. If what Steve said that came out in his Biography is right then he has it nailed already. Samsung are trying to get the jump, but IMO if people are looking for this sort of thing, then they would have done their research and know Apple has something on the horizon and would be waiting to see what they do come out with then use that the judge the rest.

Cheers

I wonder what reaction the TV will have when I shout at the numpties on some of these programmes?
I think it's a pointless gimmick anyway, we'll all look mental, talking to the TV.

Tattoo, was that "do their research" line directed at me?? Everybody knows there are rumors of Siri integration and a new Apple TV, but at this point it's nothing but rumors. We don't know if it's an actual TV or a box plus we have no timetable for even an announcement. IMHO, any way you measure it at this point Apple is behind. Shoot as of right now, Apple TV still has 720p which is behind Roku's XD boxes.

They may surge ahead when/if Apple announces announces Apple TV 3 and all it's bells and whistles, but right now nobody knows except Apple and they aren't telling. I personally hope that Apple launches ATV3 very soon, because I'm been waiting for it for some time.

Probably true. But till now there is no real solution which conveniently lets you use the internet, features provided on the internet on your TV.
There are a few, but as far as I am concerned they are all just either bad, or just not doing that much.

And as we all know this is the point where Apple usually kicks in and provides us with something that actually works (and people will want)

Too many...
Everyone is in a hurry to beat Apple to their own device that they haven't even announced yet, let alone launched! How much you want to bet this will be a fail for Samsung, just as the GoogleTV was for Sony?

I would be interested in that TV for it's size and hardwire specs, not because of voice recognition crap.

Last, Samsung didn't beat anyone because they aren't the first to have voice/gestures/ or facial recognition for controlling monitors/tvs. What I found funny is that they don't show the part where the tv can't be playing audio when listening to inputs, yet shows a demo of a song playing while using voice commands. Typical Samsung false advertising.
