Yes that was the one where you closed the cover and it jus looks like a big piece of furniture?

The TV and radio still works. Not sure of the record player. Might need a new belt.

The one thing I miss about the old Tube TV's is the fact you could go down to your neighborhood 7-11 stores and get any tube but a picture tube and have the TV working again that afternoon.

I have a JVC 25" CRT television which has been used 2-7 hours per day (if in football season) for 20 years. I purchased this unit when I lived in Southern California and brought it back to Nova Scotia; I had to leave because the INS screwed my application for a work permit (the previous 8 were no problem).
This tv had the best picture quality of any I observed at the time, and is still good enough for me. I cannot afford to purchase a new tv as I am living on disability. TV tuner for my desktop will be replacement (when this unit finally croaks), although only
17", but LCD monitor. Football will not be the same.

I got rid of my last CRT TV last Sept after my youngest went off to college. I still have an older 27 inch in storage but I'll probably dump it in the summer when I clean the place out...

I still think tube picture is awesome but my worse half is egging me to get a 50 inch plasma so we can start living in the new century instead of the 1980's :)

CRT quality is the dogs wotsits unfortunately the main reason why they are being phased out is an environmental one. Most countries have signed up to disposal accords and your CRT possesses the following nasties.. lead, cadmium, beryllium, and brominated flame retardants...all carcinogenic and a nightmare to get rid of.

Way... way too many specs to list.

I honestly haven't seen a 1080p CRT to compare to. It's been a LOOONG time since I had a CRT computer monitor. I don't miss the real estate they took up, not at all.

Not to mention those big 36inch CRT's of Sony's or at least the HD XBR line was some watt hungry units that could double as space heaters in the winter.

That's what I don't miss about CRTs. They can use more electricity and in the summer they do seem like heaters.

That said, a Plasma kicks out some heat too. I can reckon on mine raising the room temperature by a degree (C) if it's on for 3 or 4 hours, and the room it's in is 22' x 12'.

The newer plasmas run cooler and take up less energy than the ones a few years ago.

Which one?
We have just a single 42" Sharp Aquos TV in the den. We have no cable; just over-the-air HD, Netflix, Hulu and Blu-Ray.
