Doug, I actually agree with your 3 main points! Shocked? Don't' be. That all makes total sense to me and now I totally understand your decision.

After you use your new Xbox a while, report back on your feelings.

Way... way too many specs to list.
The ONLY thing I don't like about our XBOX is the interface for Netflix. I just don't like the controller really.

Otherwise, the system works great and Kinect's a blast.

Congratulations on the purchase, Doug! The 360 definitely has the more polished and secure online experience between the two of them. I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision.

I really like my ps3 I have the first one and got it the day that it came out. I do not like the Xbox and will probably always use PS.

I haven't even taken it out of the wrappings yet! I opened the (stupidly put together) box earlier, then went out. One thing I am curious about, I was under the impression that the new version of the Xbox didn't have the power brick, and was just a straight cord like the PS3 has. Am I wrong about that?

I'm also debating whether or not to purchase the extended warranty. I think it's $100 for 2 years? Still on the fence about whether or not I should open and play COD because all I hear is that the kids who play it, only care about walking around using a sniper rifle scope glitch to kill people with one shot and no effort. Kind of makes a game boring when all that happens is getting sniped by campers or "glitchers".

Unfortunately, there are 3 really bad things about MW3 on the 360: HARDCORE STUPID CAMPERS, stupid quick scoping while doing the Halo monkey jump, and little kids playing and acting tough when their parents aren't around. Thankfully though, I have my PS3, or I would have thrown all 4 360 controllers through my projector screen.

Also, I wouldn't spend half the money for a warranty.

So, it's been almost a month since having bought the 360. I'd probably not be posting this right now if the game I just tried to play (Battlefield 3) was working, but it's not. It's true that most people post things on forums because they need to vent about their negative experiences, and this post might be just that, right now.

I've managed to play BF 3 a hand full of times since I bought it, but haven't spent more than an hour each time, and that is rather generous. I've only really played in campaign mode, and tonight, I felt like playing. Last time I played was a week or so ago. Put the disc in, it loaded up and after about 10 seconds it just quit. I got an error message saying that it was disconnected from the EA servers or something. But I'm not playing online!? Plus the fact that the crash happens at exactly the same moment every time I try and load it. I gave up... very frustrated and not wanting to even play another game.

That aside, almost every time I turn the console on, there's an update. Not that they take very long, but, it's kind of annoying. Thus far I'd say that it's not as seamless an experience as many had said it would be. A lot of my old original Xbox games aren't compatible with the 360, which I find to be inexcusable and stupid.

I did try playing BF3 online a few times, but found out very quickly just how annoying it is to play with spawn campers. At least let me turn around to see where the fire is coming from!! Meh. Ok, so I'm not very good at these games, but in order to get better, I'd need to play campaign mode... which it seems right now, I can not.

Do any of you who have an 360 belong to an Xbox forum? I'd like to visit one and ask for help. The official forums seem rather stuffy, but if it's the best place, then so be it.

Well both Xbox and PS3 are great for online gaming. Xbox has some great titles that are just for Xbox like Halo, which Halo 4 will be coming out Fall of 2012 and that is going to be a major hit with Xbox and loads of people are going to buy that game. Xbox also offers other games like Gears of War which is a great 3rd person shooter, and has a great community of gamers that play that game. Also they have other game that I am not 100% sure of that are only for the Xbox, because I usually only play halo.

But the PS3 had some great games too like the Xbox, and some of them are just for the PS3. Though Xbox does have Halo and Gears of War, PS3 does have Jack and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank (Which used to be one of my favorite games ever) and other original games that are with the PS3.

The major games you said is like Call of Duty and Battlefield, either way Xbox or PS3 you will have the game to play online and it is a great community to play on both. It does not really matter how many people play on a certain Console, just how well that the game is.

Thanks tat. I basically had to play that mission over again, and problem was "solved". I just hope this doesn't become the norm with this game or my console. I guess it would take a while in order for me to get to know this however, since I'm an extremely casual gamer.

Oh, and to put it out there, my gamer tag is: DrBan3 Hit me up! (as all the cool kids say... or is that out ?) ;D

Doug

P.S. On an xbox forum, a couple of people have said that if you're "online" (I'm guessing they mean signed in to Xbox Live), EA games (DICE etc) will tend to try and have you connect to their servers, and that it's best to just play "offline". Not sure of how true that claim is, but I'll try it.

The xbox 360 is slightly cheaper, but an equally good platform. Some games seem to favor the playstation though

If i were you, i will buy playstation. It is more portable.

To be honest, portability is really a non-concern for me personally in regards to console devices. It's been years since I would have even been remotely interested in carting a console over to a friends house for a 'lan party'. Then again, I'm old.

What? Kudos for making an argument for the PS3 that I have never, ever, heard before. Not that I think that it holds any weight, as both systems aren't really "portable" at all, but a 10 for originality.

Playing mine right now, reading the forum between firefights. :D

LOL Portable is definitely an original! Anyway, no need for debate anymore, I've got the Xbox.

The advice given on the Xbox forums to play "offline" seems to be in vain, since I'm not able to play without being signed in, in the first place. Why the heck is that? Why does MS need one to use a profile when wanting to play offline? I mean, what if you don't even have an internet connection? Makes no sense to me.
