A warm welcome to Mac-Forums, lucytaylor.

You've certainly come to the right place.

Please don't just visit when you have a problem, maybe you can answer someone else's problem.

And, anyway, a regular perusal of the forums brings up all sorts of useful tips and links to articles.

Hello,
Tom is my name, recently retired and social distancing like most! Use to have a Lacie ext. hd and a Time Capsule but when they quit talking I never replaced. Now I think it's time to quit taking chances with the iMac's and have purchased a Backup Plus 2T HD from Seagate and an ADATA SE800 1TB SSD. Nothing important to save, just 30 years of pic's and video. I'll be dropping by quite a bit

I'll bet you would change your opinion about importance if you ever lost all those pics and videoes!!!

And welcome to mac-forums Tom, and don't forget to let us know how those backup drives work out for you.

Hi:

Patrick recommended I join this forum which I did a while ago. We both visit a Macintosh forum in Canada that has become little more than a vehicle for a few members to fight and abuse each other over their political and social views.

I've spent time lurking on the forum to see if it's a worthwhile place to participate. I think I'm going to like it here.

My wife and I are both retired. We've had Macintosh computers and other Apple devises for a very long time. My first Macintosh is a Mac SE complete with a dot matrix printer and modem and an external floppy drive. I still have all that stuff along with a pair of carry cases and it still works. I need to replace the printer ribbon though.

Welcome to mac-forums as a member Rod, I'm sure you will enjoy it here. You sure won't have to put up with any site snipping remarks and political views as that other Canada mac site turned into.

Hello RadioFlyer...a BIG welcome to Mac-Forums!:)

p.s. We tend to stay away from political & social discussions. These topics are not necessarily out-of-bounds for discussing...but if a discussion gets too heated...we will step in very quickly!

New to the forum, but not a first-time Mac user. I've always enjoyed building PC systems for myself, but realized that I was tired of the fussing with component selection, and my vision was making assembly a chore. I wasn't excited by the thought of a pre-built Windows box, and I missed the Mac experience...so, here I am!

Hi to all. I am Umit. I am a civil engineer with 15 years of experience and working for an official state institute here, Izmir, in Turkey. I am a graduate student(for master degree) in structural engineering and also an undergraduate student(for associate degree) in computer programming at the same time. And last but of course not least, married with two daughters, my precious ones.
I decided to have a Macbook besides my 6-year-old Win 10 operated Lenovo laptop( with one of early i7, and later modified 8 Gb ram and 256 Gb SSD) considering it would be nice for me to use it for my coding and design related study. So I ordered a 16" Macbook Pro but it hasn't arrived yet, it was on its way somewhere in Shangai, China when I last checked it :).
Since this will be my first Mac ever and I have no experience how to use a Mac OS machine, I decided to enter some related community and found here.
I hope it will be a nice experience for me.
Thank you all for reading. Bye...
