I was torn between Mac Desktops & Laptops, so sorry if this is the wrong thread.
I also searched for similar, and nothing came up.

So, how about a comparison of everyone's Macs?

Download Xbench for Mac - Benchmarking tool for OS X. MacUpdate.com
use this neat benchmarking utility, and turn off all unnecessary background processes, and make sure it is the only app running.

then take a screenshot (cmd + shift + 4) of your overall result, and post it here! heres mine:

attachment.php

a respectable 127.

look forward to seeing your scores! :)

(i would have chosen Geekbench, but the 64 bit version is not free.)

I'll play :) Here are two sequential runs. Will post the new iMac when it gets here - hopefully tomorrow, but probably not until Monday. Does FEDEX deliver on Saturdays?

interesting that your Mac from 2008 beats Spang's (2010?) laptop!

But seeing how it's score dropped when I got to the drive test, I decided to try again without testing the HDD, I got 325.32.

I think once I get the SSD, I'll do much better than the original 170, but not quite 325.

This is with a 2.0Ghz i7 Quad-core 15in MacBook Pro, 7200RPM HD.

Feel so stupid since I can't figure out how to paste the screen shot I made in. Maybe this worked... I hope. Course I've only had my iMac for just over 3 weeks.

Ok that is better. Course my little iMac has very little extra stuff on it, figured I'd play for a while before getting too much for it.

This was run during normal usage, (Safari three tabs, and flash) I just ran the benchmark before closing any programs.

This was run on a fresh restart. Only program running.

Looks like Brian and I have the exact same computer, I wonder what the difference can be?

krzykat's is the new iMac

You're fixing to see why I haven't been all that interested in puttin' out the cash to upgrade my '06 model until these new Sandy Bridge chips. It's taken 4 years to get better than a 10-15% increase even in test scores and less than that in most real usage tasks.

(Someone asked in another thread today why you spend money on the best processsor first instead of RAM - this is why.)

Look at those Disk test scores - still something to be said for the WD 320 & 500.
Am amazed at that Samsung Spinpoint score though.

That first gen MacPro is still pretty much keeping up harry.

Ran it again on the 2008 iMac C2d 2.4Ghz. This time closed Safari and Mail. A bit faster. Will try it on the C2D mini later.

My benchmark is my MBP, but both are pretty much the same in everyway, the iMac would have a slightly better CPU score but not by much. :)

updated leaderboard for system specs.
