I went to see The Dark Knight this afternoon. Almost went last weekend, but decided to avoid the crowds. Now I must admit that I've long had high expectations of this movie. Batman Begins was pretty darned good despite a couple personal quibbles I had with it, and the more recent hype regarding Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker could only stoke my enthusiasm. I was already on a high with comic-book adaptations. I was very pleased with Iron Man and knew The Dark Knight would rock.

WELL! After The Dark Knight, I'm almost embarrassed to say I actually considered Iron Man to be my yardstick by which I could even compare the two. The Dark Knight took my expectations, chewed them up, spit them on the floor, ground them down into little pieces all the while yelling at me "That's ALL you expected from me you little punk??" Holy freaking transistors Batman! I don't believe I have ever seen a movie with this much action, extensive character development, and thought-provoking dialogue as The Dark Knight had. Looking back on it, while Iron Man was a good movie, in all honesty that script could have been written by any team of decent writers who knew enough about the comic book character and history. But the Dark Knight... Nah. No one else could have written this. I'm almost inclined to outright say this is the best movie I've ever seen, bar none. At the least, as the best comic book adaptation, Sin City might be the only other contender in my book.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go back and find the rest of the pieces of my mind that got blown out watching this.

I really enjoyed this movie, as well. I saw it the day after it was released! I like how they throw in Two-Face unexpectedly, and the effects were amazing. The Joker was especially dark in this film, retaining his status as my favorite character!

I would say Dark Knight was certainly lacking in the action department compared to a lot of movies. I am glad it was done this way.
Excellent story for sho!

I had no idea Harvey Dent/Two Face was even in the movie till someone spilled the beans on me the other day. Then I'm yelling "Stop! Stop! Don't say anything else!" I'm sooo glad they got him right though. I was so ticked over Tommy Lee Jones' portrayal... they so totally didn't get it right. And Heath made Jack Nicholson's Joker look like a complete putz. I was afraid before going in that much of the Oscar-nomination speculation about Heath Ledger's performance was part sympathy due to his ill-timed death. Not now. He deserves it and I have little doubt he'll get it.

I have to say of the parts of the movie that I wasn't "preoccupied" w/ something else ;) I LOVED. These superhero movies just keep on getting better and better it seems. I really need to see Iron Man though.

The Dark Knight has to be the best super hero movie thus far. Anybody think there will be another sequel?

Are you kidding!? Of course there will be another sequel. Most movies nowadays can't go without making a sequel. To be quite honest, I don't see why there always has to be sequels to everything, but super hero movies HAVE to have sequels. It's the law of movies! XD However, I do think it's dumb how they're making sequels of movies like Madagascar.

A perfect example of a failed sequel would be the Transporter 2. First movie was awesome, second was an unrealistic joke.

Personally, the way the movie ended I thought that there wouldn't have been a sequel. I guess we shall see.

I loved the movie. There were certain things I didn't like, but the good over weighed them. Heath Ledger was awesome and is probably one of my favorite villains.

Did we see the same movie lol, the way in which the movie ends screams sequel to me the way he is running from the dogs just seems like a unnatural conclusion and a very weird place to draw an end to this story, though this is just my opinion ofcourse

I liked that the movie made a rather fun commentary on human nature- this was truly the Joker's movie, even with the important character development for Batman.

Great movie. Heath Ledger as a joker was very impressive.
