I just fixed what must have been my 500th Acer laptop with a broken screen - this one had a broken hinge as well - snapped right at the bend in the metal.
Acer makes junk... plain and simple. Although this one was pretty easy to disassemble (it's a walk in the park compared to a plastic MacBook), There's precious little in the way of bracing or structural elements - everything is plastic. You can just tell, it was built to be disposable.
The sad thing is, this seems to be the trend in the industry (but Acer is probably the worst offender). I wonder what Windows laptops would cost if they were built to the same standards and using the same materials as Apple (not that I want them to be as difficult to take apart).

Agreed. Most of the Acer's I have messed with are very cheap with many corners cut both in Build Quality and design. I dread working with most of them. With Notebooks (besides apple) I love working on Thinkpads and some Dells. There are even some HP's out there that outclass anything Acer makes!
