ROOMBA
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roomba

so ups was by today...
i undid the box, set-up, hit start. it started in the main room and surprisingly was quite complete. it was kinda funny to see how it handled the stairs but it did not take the tumble. actually it seemed better than expected and emulated the movement a human would use to vacuume the room.

it got into the office and had a time dancing with the network cables but navigated through it just fine but left the wire in a ball.

in a relatively complex house, with stuff all around it managed to cover the whole floor. when its time was up it went clear across the house to find its charger pad and beeped shut-dwn.

the best thing about it is like my macbook-pro it has a gently flashing led but it says CLEAN

That is certainly on my wishlist of the future. Until then, I think I will focus on paying for school.

I third the need for a video though

I'm pretty sure my cats would attack this thing if it were roaming around the house ;P

my wife would love one of these. we just could never get one to work in our house. we have 7 separate floors (levels) with about 42 or so carpeted stairs.

so, we have a kick butt dyson. ;)

They're cute, but they don't really clean...they just brush up crumbs and stuff. I think they might actually make my allergies worse by stirring up pollen.

We friggin love our Roomba. As for cleaning, it gets the dust bunnies, pet fur and other things off the floor great. I was amazed, and still am, how much pet hair this thing gets out of the carpet everyday.

Our cat and 2 dogs know it running and the cat will stay in the same room as the Roomba, but so far none of them have attacked it :( I am holding out hope that our new Wire Fox Terrorist will see fit to teach the Roomba who's boss one day.

.

I hear a majority of owners do name them...I find that odd, but I guess I'll understand if I buy one.
