Why doesn't Bootcamp support anything other than Windows?

Isn't it about time Apple opened up Bootcamp to allow other operating systems to be run on Mac hardware? Let's face it - do we really owe Bill Gates any more money? Earth to Tim Cook - open your eyes!!!!

Boot Camp was designed specifically for Windows. Most (other) OS's work fine with Apple hardware.

2021 M1 MacBook Pro 14" macOS 14.4.1, Mid 2010MacBook 13" iPhone 13 Pro max, iPad 6, Apple Watch SE.
You don't need Bootcamp to instal LinuxMint 17 or Ubuntu or even the less compatible Chrome OS. Even Windows can be setup using a Virtual Box or Dual boot system. Apple just came up with Bootcamp as an easier way to do it from the macOS partition.
