Can anyone tell me how to correctly remove Virtualbox from my Mac? I'm running a iMac OS X Sierra 10.12.6 (16G1510)

I already removed the Windows 8.1 I had running on it by going to Machine > Delete files.

I want to start using https://www.parallels.com/ instead because Articulate Storyline 360 was not installing by using Virtualbox. The Articulate company suggests Parallels.
I'm not even sure if it will make a difference.

Thanks for your help.

usually you would just drag files/icons to the trash to delete a program. appcleaner is also useful as it removes all files associated with a given program.

It may not make a difference. It may not be the fault of VirtulBox that Articulate is not installing. It could be some problem with Windows 8.1 which you had running in VB. You can certainly try using Parallels but it might be a good idea to download their trial version first since Parallels is an expensive app.

The VirtualBox files should all be located in your Documents folder. The suggestion above of using AppCleaner is also a good way to remove VB files.

I am trying to learn to use Parallels to run Windows on my Mac so I can use Articulate Storyline 360. It only runs on Windows.

I installed Parallels and made the mistake of installing Windows 10. But I purchased Windows 8.1 Pro several years ago and I have the Product Key for it. Obviously, I can't use the Product Key from a Windows 8.1 Pro purchase for Windows 10.

As a result, I want to use Windows 8 on Parallels. The problem is, several years ago I ran VMWare Fushion on my Mac but deleted the files. I obviously did not delete all of the files correctly, because it looks like Parallel can't use Windows 8 because it gives me the message below:

"This VMware Fusion virtual machine cannot be
converted to the Parallels format because it is
suspended.
You need to shut it down first. For more details, please see here.
OK"

What steps should I take to make sure I can't get rid of what's left from VMWare Fusion so I can install Windows 8 on Parallel?

Thank you very much for your help.

Read what I wrote to you above first. Then go to the VMWare Fusion site and download their uninstaller software. I used to keep a copy around when I ran VMWare Fusion but no longer have it handy.
