Bootcamp vs Virtualbox

Hi
i am running win 8.1 in virtualbox and it is okay bit slow. i will be going online often and would like to know what will be better to use bootcamp or the virtalbox ? i have a macbook air 2017 model with 251gb with 8gb of ram. the basic model. I am also running the Latest version of osx. what would be better ? for space and speed and performance I will be running basic software

You will not be able to use winOS 8.1 with Boot Camp on that MBA, only winOS 10.

If you are look for speed, then Bootcamp is obviously going to be better since Windows will be running natively on your machine just as MacOS right now is. With virtualization, you get the benefit of being able to get in and out of Windows whenever you want, including suspending your VM and resuming it when you need to use it.

The decision to go with bootcamp or virtualization depends on what types of software you want to run and what demands they have. Apart from Virtualbox, there is also Parallels and VMWare Fusion and both of those are significantly faster than Virtualbox, but they do cost money.
