I have no audio at all. I sort of expected not to have use of the internal speakers (without some tweaking) but I expected to have sound output through the headphone jack.

Any ideas on where I should go from here? I've googled a bit and haven't found a good answer.

Are you dual booting between macOS and Ubuntu? If so, is the sound normal while running macOS?

OK, that tells us the problem then is likely driver related. I haven't run Ubuntu on any of my machines for quite a while and am really not up to speed on the latest. Someone in our forums may be able to offer a suggestion but you will probably get better help from the Ubuntu community forums. Quite a few folks who hang out there dual boot between macOS and Ubuntu. Your machine is new but I don't believe Apple has changed much in the way of audio. Although sometimes Apple does things very subtly.
