Hello!

Hope to find someone here that could help on how to get rid of the BSOD problem on bootcamp 4.0.4033 running on a late 2009 iMac with OSX Sierra.

Made a fresh install of osx sierra then installed windows 7 64bit ultimate, installed all windows updates then realised had no sound coming out on windows side only,
installed drivers from bootcamp windows support folder and bsod started. At the moment cant even access in safe mode.

The BSOD error displays:
driver_irql_not_less_or_equal and ndis.sys error

At this point i can only think of re installing windows 7 again, any alternatives?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to our forums.

Make sure you're using the correct version of Boot Camp that's compatible for your iMac and for Windows 7. The BSOD error would seem to indicate that an incorrect driver has been installed or corruption occured in the initial installation. If you do decide to reinstall Windows 7 again you will need to boot back to Sierra, run the Boot Camp assistant again and tell it to remove the Windows 7 partition. Then and only then can you attempt a reinstall by starting over.

Thanks for your help much appreciated. Have confirmed that the bootcamp version is the correct for this model, unfortunately something went wrong after installing software and windows updates as i had normal access for over a week or so and then bsod problem. And as i don't understand much about windows 7 and drivers maybe my best option would be to reinstall win7 again. Just didn't want to go through the process of hours and hours of installers and updates

I hear you. If things were running right for awhile and then went south, you probably have run into some corruption while doing Windows updates. If you decide to start over, my advice is to run a First Aid check on your hard drive before reinstalling Windows 7.

Also, unless you're running games or graphic intensive Windows programs, you might want to think about running Windows in a VM instead. VirtualBox from Oracle is free and works well enough.
