My friend is dual booting on a 2011 iMac with an LG ultrawide monitor connected. Native resolution is 2560x1080 and works fine in Mac OS but only goes up to 1920x1080 in Windows (7 x64). Boot Camp is the most recent supported version, AMD driver setup doesn't detect compatible hardware but I was able to update via the device manager. Also installed a driver for the monitor itself but neither made any difference.

How is he connecting the LG to his Mac? What output is he using from the Mac and which adapter? BTW, we have had questions before regarding ultra wide monitors but usually because they didn't work to full resolution in OS X. Usually they work better from Windows. Your situation is unusual.

Thunderbolt to DVI adapter with DVI to HDMI cable. Mac OS was apparently having the same resolution issue with Thunderbolt to HDMI.

The connection method may be at least part of the problem. Compare these two adapters and look at the maximum resolution each supports. This third-party adapter has max resolution of 1920 x 1200. According to the Amazon page this adapter has the higher resolution you're seeking. It's in the questions.

Check to see which connections your monitor supports DVI or HDMI then choose the one with the highest resolution. Once you have done that choose either DVI or HDMI and go start through with one adapter. of course you'll need to make sure the adapter you choose supports the resolution you want.

It's not the adapter because native ultrawide resolution works fine in Mac OS, just not Windows. I did try it with my own DP to HDMI adapter for the sake of science but same results. It's gotta be a driver issue or some Windows bug.
