I'm not entirely sure, this is the right sub-forum, since technically it's not about running Windows on a Mac, but here it is anyway:

I have a MacBook Pro running macOS Sierra 10.12.3 with CCC 4.1.13, which I use extensively for my backup and cloning.

I want to clone a Windows system HDD to a new SSD. Both drives are 2.5” SATA.

The HDD in question is installed in a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19, which is a part of a Mercedes diagnostic setup, and is not used for anything else.

I have two mSATA to USB adapters, so was planning to connect both drives to my MacBook Pro and clone the old one onto the new SSD.
Will that work? I know that the Windows format (NTFS?) is not visible, without some third party software, to the Mac, but will the CCC be able to clone the entire drive, even though I can’t see it in Finder?

The newly cloned SSD must become bootable, obviously.

This is probably a question best directed to the developer of CCC, who by the way, answers all support questions and is top notch when it comes to support in general. There is another alternative but it would involve purchasing an additional app. Acronis True Image works for both HFS+ and NTFS, however, I have not used Acronis software for quite some time and do not know how effective it is. You might look into it to see if that would work for you in the event CCC can not do the job.

Judging from my read of this CCC support page it is not the right tool for the job. As I read it CCC would not create a bootable copy of the BootCamp partition. It would copy virtual machine files properly.

Thanks, I posted a question on CCC Help Centre page as well ...

No optical drive in the Toughbook CF-19, but I do have an external one.

Would like to avoid buying any Windows apps, particularly what is essentially a single use one.

Just did an archive search on my backup discs and found a purchased copy of HDClone by Miray Software AG

That should work, I believe - it's Windows app, albeit an old one, but WinXP is listed as compatible.

Lets hope it does a proper job ...

BTW, Can't see anything on that Clonezilla page
