I have never liked WINE because it was such a pain to setup and get running. It was more trouble than it was worth. And the version of Crossover that I have is outdated - doesn't work with Lion, and quite frankly I'm not in the mood to give them $39.95 for an upgrade.
I ran across this new version of WINE the other day: WineBottler which not only includes a new version of WINE but also a WINE Bottler (for those of you who like to dab in it)
Anyway, I installed it and had it up and running in less than 10 minutes. The only drawback is that it's not for someone who is not familiar with running Windows programs from a Command Prompt. But it's a free alternative to Crossover and a great way to run one or two Windows programs. Keep in mind this is not for gaming....
Give it a try.
