Even after reading the Boot Camp instructions (and following them!), and checking forums after errors started popping up everywhere, a new problem always arises.

I have OSX 10.5.8 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB memory. I managed to partition my disk and start installing windows, but by the final part of the installation, a problem came up.

Several people have had the problem, so it did not take long to find several threads regarding it. The problem was an incorrect parameter in installation, the \I386\asms and there was much speculation about the nature of the problem, but the solution most everybody agreed on was to copy that directory, burn it into a disk, and load it up before the install disk. Simple enough, no?

But when i try copying such directory, i get a problem other people seem to be having with snow leopard (which i dont have): It says 'finder cannot read or write files. error code -36.'

I have yet to find a solution to that problem that does not involve serious mucking about in the terminal, and hopefully something will turn up. But now I am getting worried, so far, I have had problems partitioning my HD, installing windows, and now I cannot copy some files. Never before did I have so many problems in such a short amount of time (much less in one single operations that is supposed to be simple).

What should I do?

First - Don't start a new thread. You should be posting this to the older thread to which I replied before.

And.... you never did verify if your XP disk met the Boot Camp compatibility specs I outlined for you. Does it? What kind of disk is it?

Regards.

Sorry about that, I guess frustration got the better of me and I just vented.

The XP disk is a company disk, it should have worked fine (yet did not). I will check with the company again, but they dont seem to know much about it either.

I agree, there is no need for this thread, so if the admin can delete it, that would be great. If a solution comes up, I will post in the old one.

Thanks for the reply!
