Okay, so now that the newest version of bootcamp supports windows 7, i want/need to install windows 7 onto my Unibody Macbook (late 2008).

Also i want to install OS X as the 64-bit version since i have the capability of running it. I know that you can supposedly just boot OS X into 64-bit mode, but how do i change it so that it always boots into 64-bit??

And lastly, is installing windows 7 64-bit through boot camp as simple as following the directions or is there some tricks i have to do to be able to install the 64-bit version??

Thanks in advance!

Can I ask why? You most likely don't need 64-bit support and you are likely to encounter more problems than anything.

To the OP:

Have got to agree with Van. Unless there is some compelling reason to run Win 7 64 bit, it might be best to stick with the 32 bit version for now.

Very few Windows programs have been recompiled for 64 bit. That may change in the future, however for now most are 32 bit including the popular games.

As for starting Snow Leopard in 64 bit mode by default, (other than holding down the 6 and 4 key) you can't. Only the Apple X server products will boot to 64 bit by default. See this article.

As far as installing Windows 7 64 bit via Boot Camp goes.... Nothing special needed. Just follow directions and make sure you have the latest Boot Camp for Windows (3.1).

Regards.

Something I forgot to mention - although Snow Leopard won't boot into a 64-bit kernel by default, you are still using a largely 64-bit OS despite using a 32-bit kernel. By this I mean that most of your apps are running in 64-bit mode. For instance, open up Activity Monitor and you'll see what I mean under the "Kind" column.
