I think I've beaten everybody to the punch with this notice. I also note there is no iPadOS and Apps Forum which I suppose we need to correct since the two are now seperate.

Please make sure you backup to iTunes, iCloud, iMazing, whichever you use.

This update contains bug fixes.

Rod: The iOS 13.1.3 update incorporates both the iOS and iPadOS updates. I thought that was understood as we already posted about the iOS 13.1.3 update. From now on, we will just post the notice as one.

I don’t know if that will always be the same updates? Apple separated them for a reason, we should keep them separated as well. iOS is not iPadOS, and iPadOS is not iOS, just saying.

I'm afraid I agree, they are no longer the same. The apps are different and the OS's are different. We need a forum for iPadOS and apps distinct from iOS.

As far as I'm aware, Apple will update both at the same time. And so far, that's exactly what they have done. Basically, both operating systems are the same with some minor compensations for the screen size, etc.

Anyway, please check to make sure that when iOS has been updated, to see whether or not iPadOS has also.

How about this for a compromise? As long as iOS and iPadOS are updated in sync, we keep them as one. If/when iPadOS and iOS diverge, they get their own areas for discussion. I do think iPadOS is a different beast and will have unique problems that might deserve a separate forum.

That sounds totally reasonable an I stop trying to beat Chas to the punch with notifications. It's obviously impossible.:)

Dumb question perhaps and maybe not the best thread in which to ask it.

However, is it safe to upgrade my main iPhone and main iPad to iOS13 even if I have no plans to risk Catalina yet (or maybe ever), or do I need to keep at least one of them on iOS12 so I can still use Reminders?

Secondly, my beta copy of iPadOS13 has an option to change the view back to large icons, I.e. back to that in iOS12. Is there any problem with using that if my old eyesight prefers that?

I wouldn’t update either of them yet. Unless you can do all of your Reminders on the devices. Well, I guess you could, but you would have to be mindful not to upgrade Reminders, when it asks. It will still have a constant “upgrade” button each time you use Reminders on iOS 13 or iPadOS 13.

The issue I experienced was after I upgraded my iPhone and tablet, i didn’t do the upgrade at first, but clicked on the upgrade button without remembering why it was there. Then it through off syncing between iDevices and Mac, but I think the bigger issues was it stopped syncing with iCloud also, but I didn’t know that until this week. I called Apple and they are still working on it, they are supposed to call me back some time today (I hope).
