How can we control the brightness of two identical screens so they seem the same brightness ?

Many monitors have brightness control built into them. Need to browse the monitor controls to find it.

I'm talking within the monitor itself...either via the buttons on the monitor or the on screen display menu's of the monitor. This is totally independent of the computer it's attached to.

The monitors are the 24” Apple A1267 so no controls on the monitor itself. Should Sys Pref/Display Brightness be sufficient ? And how would the Arrangement tab in ‘Display’ work?

Are you seeing a "brightness" slider control in System Preferences >> Display...for your Apple monitors? If so...yes...that's the brightness control for each monitor. I happen to have an old Apple 30" display...and it has brightness buttons on the monitor itself (no Brightness slider System Preferences).

And how would the Arrangement tab in ‘Display’ work?

You drag/move each monitor image with your computers input device (mouse/trackpad)...into the orientation you prefer.

Thing is though, would you expect to control the brightness of each monitor independently ?

The Apple LED Cinema displays don't have separate brightness controls on them, the Sys Prefs is where you would control it and so it should be universal on all connected displays. When multiple monitors are connected, the Display panel should appear on each of those monitors, so confirm that there isn't a brightness control on those unique panels as opposed a single one on the primary display.

These are two different topics. Part of my last post was quoted where I referred to how the Arrangement Tab in "Display" works. Display "Brightness" and orientation of the displays are two different things.

If I'm missing something...please post a screenshot of what you're seeing...and maybe that will clear things up.:)

Thanks,

Thanks Nick, yes now understood these are two different things. Problem remians with balancing equal brightness and seeing two separate independent screens to adjust separately in 'Display'. Is it possible with 2 x A1267 monitors ?

Have you tried, with only one monitor connected at a time?

Do you have a separate brightness slider controls for each monitor in the "Display" preference panel?
