Too Good To Be True External SSD Deal

I saw this advertised on Facebook. it sounds way too good to be true. What do you all think?

It's disturbing that I've never heard of this vendor before, it's disturbing that the product doesn't have a brand name on it, and it's disturbing that there is no sign whatsoever what the address is of the vendor (not even a mention of what country they are in.)

If not for the worrisome signs, I'd purchase several of these drives immediately. $30 is about 1/5th of the price I'd expect to pay for a product like this.

I just got caught in a scam like this.
Company advertised a UPS for about 15% below the lowest price elsewhere - so not outrageously cheap.
Had a full elaborate shop set up - after I ordered and paid with CC, message came up that card was declined
I called card company -they said the charge was never submitted.
It's only at that point that the warning bells started ringing.
Googled that company -nothing other than their own site.
Then found another company that sold the same UPS for exactly the same price and had the same website layout.
For that one, google brought up a long list of posts by people who were scammed.

Seems they are after your credit card info - I ended up cancelling mine which is a bit of a pain just before Christmas

BTW - in my case which I described on RFD to warn others, they did have an address and phone number listed.
Address and phone were fake but I only figured that out after the fact.

I don't know for sure, but I would put money on it that this site is fake as well.

The site says they accept PayPal. That would protect from them getting your card. You might still be out the money, but no credit card risk.

The domain was registered on 10/22/2019. And their shipping times for the North American continent is 10 to 20 business days meaning that they are likely in China or similar location. If the drive does work recently, then it's worth throwing $30 bucks at the 1TB drive and don't be shocked/surprised/alarmed if you don't get the drive or your money back.

I see the same pay offerings as Jake sees. Perhaps from Canada only credit cards are accepted?

In any event, it seems that site could well be a scam and should be avoided regardless of what form of pay they accept.

I agree Randy, but it sure looks like that site may be a scam. BTW, B&H Photo in New York was running a sale on Samsung T5 external SSDs. I purchased another one from them several weeks ago but not at a $30 price.

They even have the Apple Watch (outdated link removed), not called that of course, for just $30. So definitely a total rip off or stolen property.

If I buy SSDs then I would go straight to Crucial

And if our iMac and MacBook Pro were less than 1lmost 10 yers old then they would both have their SSDs in them. As it is just the MacBook Pro has one. Pay a few more pennies and get the best I say
