I have a 20" 2006 Cinema Display apple monitor attached to a 2018 MacMini. All of a sudden the signal kept cutting out after a couple of seconds of being on. I have worked out a temporary solution - by plugging in the USB cable in addition to the HDMI cable the signal works.

If I buy a new DVI to HDMI cable will this fix it? Or could it be a problem with another cable or the cinema display power pack?

Many Thanks!

What computer were you successfully using the Cinema display with before the 2018 Mac-Mini?

The monitor was originally on a 2014 Macmini, but is has worked fine on the 2018 MacMini since I got it in July.

I installed an update and suddenly it required the HDMI and USB cables in order for the signal to work. I suspected the update to be the problem, but weirdly when I tried it on the old 2014 MacMini it required both cables too!
