I am in the process of replacing my 2013 MacBook Pro with another one. I have no choice but to get one with one or more USB-C ports and I have lots of peripherals which don't connect to USB-C. A classic scenario I expect.
Yesterday I spent ages on-line trying to make sense of the market for USB-C adapters/cables. I will be getting a MBPro with touch bar (more for the performance than the touch bar!) so I have a choice as to whether to get separate adapters or a hub. The main things are to convert to USB3, thunderbolt2 & an SD card reader but having one for occasional use with HDMI.
The Apple converters are expensive and their USB and multi converters don't get great reviews anyway. I may get the Thunderbolt cable for use with my phone. My main aim is something that works and is reasonably reliable. Paying more doesn't seem to be a guarantee of either!! I will be using them mostly at home but best if they are reasonably portable.
Any recommendations/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
