Hello guys!

I’m really not familiar with how to deal with my problem here. I’m using a MB Pro mid 2012 model and I really like this unit a lot due to the multiple aray of ports and hubs. So I wanna use the vinpok split portable monitor to my MB but I’m having trouble if I’m gonna buy it and yet I don’t have a type c port for their cable. I was browsing the internet about what to use as a switch between type c to my thunderbolt 1 in my MB. I recently learned that thunderbolt 2 and 3 are compatible with type c port. So, is there a way or any switch hub you could recommend to be used to connect the type c cable to my MB Pro model? Any help would mean a lot!

Thanks!

You should be able to use a USB-C to MiniDisplay Port adapter which is the same as Thunderbolt 1. Amazon has them.

Amazon got usb-c (thunderbolt 3) to thunderbold 2 adapter. Is thunderbolt 2 and thunderbolt 1 which I have on my MB Pro mid 2012 model compatible? I can’t seem to find any relevance in the internet about it. The good thing of USB-C is to be able to supply power and display at the same time on many portable monitors which I am intending to buy.

The Vinpok monitor has two USB-C inputs (one for power only) and a mini-HDMI input. You need to use one of the USB-C inputs to power the display, and the mini-HDMI input to transfer the audio/video.

https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...ally-overpriced-portable-touchscreen-monitor/

Your 2012 MBP has a Thunderbolt (mini displayport) digital video output.

You will need a Thunderbolt to mini-HDMI cable (or more likely a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable and an HDMI to mini HDMI adapter) to transfer the audio/video signal from your MBP to the monitor.

You will also need a USB-C power adapter and a USB-C to USB-C cable to provide power to the monitor.

The dual cable is used when the device used in the vinpok wouldn’t be able to provide the sufficient power it needs for display, thus it will solely supply power without display. Which is different with the macbook as you can see in the video. That’s why I was looking for a way to connect the usb-c of vinpok to the my macbook via thunderbolt since thunderbolt’s design is bilateral.

Read the article that I cited. If you are using a Macbook, rather than a Pixelbook, you have to set things up the way that I suggested:

"If you're using a device without USB-C, you'll have to connect with the included HDMI-to-Mini-HDMI cable, as well as connect the display to a power source with USB-C. "

I understand what you were trying to imply and I already saw that article prior my query here in the forum. That’s why I was looking for an alternative that my MBP’s thunderbolt 1 have an adapter to usb-c or thunderbolt 3 so that I wouldn’t be needing to attach multiple cables just to power-up and display vinpok split’s monitor. I tested asus zenscreen mb16ac’s portible monitor (if I remember the model correctly) which had a usb type connection instead of a usb-c. A single cable is used to power and display but this cable had a split end (2 usb ports) to connect to my MacBook. It was supposedly what I was looking for at the very least since I don’t need to have multiple cables. However, I have issues with it when I need to attach another flashdisk on my unit since I don’t have any available slots anymore because the device already hogged all 2 available sockets.

Then, purchase a USB powered hub which should solve your problem.

That’s what I was asking in the first post, if there’s actually an adapter from thunderbolt 1 to usb-c and not the other way around since I don’t wanna use my usb hubs. Besides, that asus model aint touchscreen too.
