Hi, Been looking for a Printer that uses Black Ink only without joy to use on my iMac 2017 but all I could find was a Laser Jet Printer that uses Black Ink only. My question is do any of you Guy’s own a Laser Jet Printer & if so how do you rate them compared to the Deskjet Printers that use Ink Cartridges. ( The Printer that I have been looking at is :- HP LaserJet Pro M15W Mono Laser Printer ) any info would be appreciated. John S.
What you are looking for is a black and white laser printer. The brand that I recommend is Brother, as they tend to be really good with their Macintosh support, quality, longevity, cost of available consumables, and features at a hyper-competitive price. (I DO NOT recommend HP printers. Not because their printers are bad, but because their Macintosh support can be really terrible.)
Just about any Brother model you choose will be good, however I usually recommend a model that can take a toner cartridge good for, at minimum, 3,000 pages. Otherwise you end up replacing consumables too often, which can get pricey. (However, if your printing needs are light, one of Brother's cheapest laser printers might be a good choice for you.)
I most often recommend this model which users have unanimously raved about:
Brother HL-L5100DN
$140 with free shipping (DO NOT go for the optional consumables plan...it's not a good deal)

When the time comes, you can get a high quality replacement toner cartridge, that is good for *8,000* pages, for only $26 from:

If the HL-L5100DN doesn't have all the features you are looking for, let me know and I can recommend a model that does.
