Trying to set up a new iTunes account I mistakenly joined Google Account as against plain Google and now I cannot get out of it. I looked at the google removal site and I am doomed if I uninstall it loosing all my files ect. Can it be uninstalled safely to get back to my old Google.

Well, like Patrick, I'm a touch confused.

May I presume that you were able to set up a new iTunes account? I won't ask why you needed to do this because that's none of our business unless you make it so.

Removing/deleting your Google Account is straightforward: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-delete-your-gmail-account-1172073. and https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-remove-my-Gmail-account-from-a-device

On the other hand, one could say, why bother? It's there, it cost nothing, you might conceivably want to use it in the future. It's not harming you in any way.

Plus the fact that such an account provides you with basically 15GB of free "cloud" storage that can be shared. Great for family photos, videos etc. and large file sharing.

But then again, I/we don't know the actual details or "problem" if there is one.

Hi Patrick I already had an I Tunes account but lost the password and in trying to get a new password I some how ended up with a Google account. The problem I encountered with the new Google account was probably due to me not understanding how it worked. Now that I have used it a bit I am getting used to it. I am still trying to set um my I Tunes Now I understand how the Google account id different from the old Google I have high hopes. chammy3 that was the advise given on the Google removal site. As Patrick state I might as well keep it. Thanks for your replies.

If you need access to your old iTunes account, try giving Apple Customer Support a call and they just might be able to get you setup with a new password. If so, stash it it somewhere safe.

And BTW: Have you looked in your Keychain Access.app to see if your old iTunes password is perhaps stashed and saved there???
