Long time no post!

Anyone else disappointed in Apples HomePod? I was really hoping that when it finally hit it would be Apples answer to Amazons Echo and Google Home. Sadly it's not. I finally broke down and purchased an Amazon Echo Gen 2 and so far have been happy as snot with it. Does everything I wish Siri could do...

I belong to a local Mac group and we recently did an evaluation of the Home Pod, Echo, and Google home. We have a gadget guy who tries just about everything. We came to the conclusion the echo was the best and Siri needed help but has potential with upgrades. Didn't care for the Google home. The biggest issue we had was both the echo and Google home track you. Both companies - google & Amazon - we felt were too invasive privacy wise. Apple has a better reputation for protecting privacy.

In my case I can't get any of them - they pipe sunlight in where I live. Also Siri told my husband to shut up the other day so now he won't talk to her!

Off topic but a good Siri story:

When Apple first introduced Siri to the Mac I read tht you could ask Siri to identify a music track playing in the background. I have several tracks in my iTunes library that aren't properly tagged so I decdided to give it a try. I had mixed success with the first few songs I tried followed by several songs where Siri basically said something to the effect of "I didn't understand that".

After three or four responses like that I finally screamed "That's because you're a freakin' idiot" in sheer frustration. Siris's response was "After all I've done for you". I didn't know what to say and my wife nearly split her sides laughing.
