My iMac (OS X 10.11.3) does not find my canon MG7720 printer. Yesterday I was able to print to the wireless printer. Today I cannot. Printer cannot be found. I restart with printer and iMac, still can't find the printer. I can print to the printer from two different MacBook Pros over the same wireless network. So I went to iMac System Preferences > Printers and Scanners and remove the printer. When I try to add the printer back, the printer can't be found. Next, I tried using the canon setup program; it can't find the printer.

Any suggestions?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Have found that quite the norm.

Go into System Preferences > Scanners & Printers select the Canon in the left hand pane and hit the little (-) button. Then with the printer powered up hit the (+) button and it should re-appear in the left hand column and be usable. Keep us posted?

Try resetting the Printing System on your iMac. Follow the directions given in this Apple KB article. After doing that, attach the Canon via USB and see if it's detected. If it's detected, use the Canon instructions to install wireless printing.

I tried this several times and the printer is not found.

This was Reset Printing System was the first thing I tried. I will try the USB method to see if it will work. Also was on the phone with AppleCare and they were no help.

Sounds like it might be a problem between your router and printer.
Try resetting both (power off then on in 20 secs) - then try adding fresh in Mac's prefs.

Thanks everyone for suggestions. Here's what worked: powered down printer, iMac, laptops; reset router; brought printer online with router; restarted iMac and magically it found ALL wireless printers in the house. Laptops were brought online and also found ALL wireless printers.

Thanks for posting that tip update. With my Canon I've usually been able to simply restart the printer. I've had to resort to resetting the printing system once or twice. This is a nice alternative that may wok for some. Think I'll mention this thread in the Sunday chat tonight.
