Wanted to provide everyone with a little bit of an update with what's been going on with the site:

- The site received a software upgrade last Thursday night...which also included some security updates.
- The website is now https (more secure site).
- The issue with PM email notifications looking like html has been fixed.
- If the "New Posts" link is used to catch up on things since last visit...when new posts are read...they now disappear from the "new list" as they should. This wasn't working correctly before.
- The website was worked on again yesterday (Monday 9/24) to solve a few under-the-hood things...and to get more advertising setup on the site to help pay the bills.
- The plan is to have a couple things looked at towards the end of this week.
- And more items planned to be worked on in the future.

Website membership & member activity is significantly on the rise. Getting newly registered members everyday...and more & more new discussions & new posts every 24 hours. We really appreciate everyone's involvement with the site (both new & long time members)...and sticking with Mac-Forums through the rough times we had earlier this year.

Mac-Forums is here to stay. And reinvestment back into the website is a priority. Mac-Forums is going to get better & better & better.:)

Thanks to everyone for helping to make Mac-Forums a great place to visit everyday!:):)

p.s. There's also something really really exciting we've been working on for a couple months...which hopefully we will be able to share with everyone soon.:)

Thanks for the update. I've been liking what I have been seeing so far.

PS, I really really appreciate having my avatar back.

Thank you to the entire Mac-Forums admin/mod crew and the behind the scenes people too.

Gee, but just as as bit of a not-at-all-critical BTW, mainly because I've been having some Mavericks Safari 9.1.3 display problems with some sites that I haven't been able to fix, but man I've tried everything to no avail, and Bob's avatar has quit working again for me.

But not to worry as it seems to be only a problem with my Safari and it shows well, and as I assume as it should in both Firefox and Google Chrome.

I just thought it would mention it, and I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem.

Hey, someone or something changed something as Bob's avatar is now showing properly in my Safari 9.1.3 as it does in FF and Google Chrome.

I thought it looked different but I wonder why it works and shows when the lighter one didn't in my Mavericks Safari?

Strange things happening.

Hi Nick

Thanks for the heads up and we all await with baited breath the arrival of the really, really exciting something:)

As this thread is about the site - I know it's a minor thing and mentioned previously; but any chance of regaining the extremely useful "Cmd + Click" on a link to open that in a new tab?

This is the only website that doesn't allow that - and it always did.

Maybe it seems trivial, but say I open the Forums, Cmd + Click to go to "New Posts" open that, see a list of ten.

Click on first, see a posted link to an article, read the article which sometimes refers to yet another, each time using Cmd + Click. If they all open in separate Tabs, it's so easy to go back/forward between them and finally click back on the "New Posts' Tab.

Now it's click the back arrow so many times.

Minor grumble, promise....

I'm not understanding what you mean? I only use the "New Posts" button. I read a thread, then click on "New Posts" again, to go back to the New Posts screen? What are you trying to do?

Do you want too have each thread, in it's own tab?

Hey Ian. First of all...no problem at all. Always appreciate the feedback.:)

I tried something...and I don't know 100% if this is what you're looking to do. But instead of doing a "command + click" on the "New Posts" button...do a "right-click". This brings up a menu...then choose "Open Link in New Tab".

Is this what you want to do?

Thanks,

Nick

The CMD+click is more a browser thing than a website (allowing or disallowing). What happens once in a while (haven't figured out why) is when I CMD+click on a link, a new tab opens and then immediately becomes the focused one. Other times, the new tab opens but I have to click to it. But either way, I've never had issues opening each post in a new tab.

Thank you all! Yes, Right Click does, indeed, offer to open whatever in a new Tab. Hadn't thought of the obvious.

So problem solved.

@Bob: yes, that was the idea. Each "extension" from the main would open in its own Tab. So much easier to look at multiple links etc by clicking on each Tab - as I sort of explained in my post.

Good show, on we go.
