Hey everyone. A quick message to mention that a small upgrade to the forum software will hopefully occur in the next day or two. As part of this upgrade the site may be down for 5-10 minutes. If you happen to try visiting during this time...more than likely that's what's up.:)

Thanks,:)

Thanks Nick,

No big deal, but I wonder if anyone was doing some upgrading on the site last week as it was down about six times for me and three of those times was for about an hour or more.

I even checked with one of the "IsItUp" type networking/checking sites and one confirmed that it was down and it wasn't just me and my Mac.

Wasn't aware of this. Do these times tend to be around the same time of day...or random times? Are you using Safari...or other browser?

Thanks

I can't recall Nick, but I think probably around early and mid afternoon PDT. Usually using Safari, but it's been acting up with some sites, but I also checked with FF and Chrome and all had nothing happening at mac-forums but other sites working OK.

It has been working fine the last few days for me.

Nick,

As you very Kindly gave this forewarning, may I mention a trifling change I've discovered for the first time this morning?

Since the year dot, I've always Command + Click on a thread or within a thread and that opens the item in a new Tab. That's stopped now. I've checked the Safari settings and they are as they should be and this doesn't happen with other sites.

Whether relevant or not, today, for the first time in ages, I was asked to sign in. I always keep the site open. Anything changed your end?

Not a big deal, but.......

Ian

Ian, I had that same login thing you did earlier today. I figured maybe the new software was installed which probably would cause that to happen.

Some work was done on the site last night....maybe more today (stay tuned). Mostly "under the hood" stuff.

Aware of some already...but if you notice any big issues...please post them here.

Also please notice the little "lock icon" and "https" in the web address field!:)

Thanks for your patience,

Same here and I hope the "remember me" works and actually remembers me as I see this is now a secure site.

I don't really see why it is but that's the way it goes I guess. At least it should keep all the paranoid users happy and feeling safe and secure. :Smirk:

That same shows up for me as well, just FWIW.

Yes sir...initially I was a little stumped as well.;) I saw a random members computer specs that seemed rather detailed...then I realized that the same specs were repeated 2-3x.

Hopefully a straight-forward fix.:)

Thanks,

Thanks very much Patrick...really appreciate it!:) Was up until 2am working on this...and had to get up at 5am to take care of an obligation. 3 hours sleep makes for a long day! lol

In case it wasn't mentioned anywhere...in addition to getting https working on the site...the forum software also recieved a small upgrade and the latest security updates.:) All of this took longer than expected...thus the midnight oil was burning freely!;)

Thanks again,

- Nick

FYI. Looks like the displaying of multiple "Mac Spec's" issue has been resolved. Was a relatively easy fix.:)
