As you may be aware, our membership has been required to reset their log on password.

The Staff has received numerous "Contact Us" inquiries from members who were having difficulty with the password reset. Some of the difficulties encountered have been due to user error or non response from the system. However, the overwhelming majority of problems with the reset have been because the member's personal profile was outdated.

The outdated item that causes the reset to fail is your email address. The automatic password reset requires your correct email address to be on file so that a temporary password to log you on can be sent to it. If you change your email address and fail to update your personal profile we have no way to send you that temporary password. Additionally, what it does is cause the Staff to first try to contact you in order to obtain your correct email address, and then access the data base to enter the correction, and finally tell the system to send you a password change reminder.

The Staff thanks all our members for their participation and wishes everyone a great Summer (and Winter down below)!

Best regards.

One thing to add to Charlie's excellent message. If you find yourself having login issues...do not create a 2nd account. We do not allow multiple accounts. Mac-Forums has controls in place that if two accounts are detected...both accounts are suspended. If this happens...it complicates getting your Mac-Forums access reestablished.

If you have login issues...please use the Mac-Forums "Contact Us" tool.:)

Thanks.

Hi Ron:

As long as your email address is valid in our data base, we can always send you a password reset message. In order to reset your password when the system requires it, you must first enter your old password so we know that it's you, and then you enter your new password once and once again to validate it. That should then reset your password in the system to the new password you chose.

Please remember your account information. Mac-Forums as of Summer 2016 requires a password change every 120 days. All of us have gone thru this process at least once...and for many of us multiple times. If account info is forgotten...we can help. But please do your best to keep track of Mac-Forums registration info (email address, password, userid).

If during the password change an error occurs...it's simply because incorrect or outdated info was entered. Please keep track of your latest account info.

Thanks,:)
