Don't have it yet, it's coming from China.

We also haven't used the "expensive" one yet - need to fix the contacts of a bunch of keys on the keyboard first.

You might be waiting for some time. Not sure about mail, but other forms of transport between the US/Canada and China have been delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The "cheap" MIDI to USB converter arrived today.

It may have been the second one they shipped since I never received the first "cheap" one from China- or they possibly never shipped it until I complained two weeks ago that I had not received it.
The quality of the "cheap" one from China is very good - doesn't look at all like a typically "China" product.
Functionality that we tested so far is fine as well - there is really no point buying the more expensive ones if one can wait for the mail from China.
Comes with a small sheet of basic, but I think adequate instructions - especially the fact that MIDI In plugs into MIDI Out and the other way around.
I have attached a copy of the instruction sheet -had to reduce it to 800 pixels and enhance the print-hope it is legible.
