Okay, I am a dummy!. I have messing around on and off for several months trying to share my iTunes music with my wife. My iMac, her iPhone, and her iPad are all up to date. We share calendars no problem. I have tried everything I could find on the web before coming here. I searched here today and thought I had found the answer by putting my apple id in her music app. Not! I am the primary on the home network. I even signed up for 200 gb of iCloud storage which I share with her. Before we each had our own storage. Is there any step by step guide for dummies?

Thank you

Specifically, what is it you want to do?

Do you just want to share it on your home network? Or do you want to put it all (or some) on her devices?
Or, do you want her to be able to access it from her PC (Mac or Win OS)?
Or, are you trying to share the pay service Apple Music?

Hi Bob,
I am trying to get my music (all purchased in iTunes) to her iPhone and iPad.
I followed the link you provided and went thru that. Family sharing was already set up in iCloud. I took her off family sharing and put her back on and no change. I tried going here to turn on my Mac to share with her:

When I fill in the password the next screen wants the security code on my credit card. After that I get "unexpected error, try again later". So my next question is does the shared music suppose to show in her music app? In my iPhone in the music app I put her apple id in. Her iPhone has my apple id in the music app. Is that the way the iPhones should be set up?

Each device should have the Apple ID that goes with that phone number, no need to put each others Apple ID on both devices.

Ok, on her device, open iTunes Store (iOS 12). Select "More", in the bottom right corner. Then select "Purchased". Select Your name under "FAMILY PURCHASES". The rest should be self explanatory. It may be a different procedure if the devices are using a different version of iOS.

Bob,

I don't know whether to laugh or cry! You are exactly correct. I knew I was probably missing one step and that was it. I can't thank you enough for taking the time!!
