What can I say..I'm a developer..:)

Well if you look at the full URL you pointed out, it's:

jwpepper_dot_com/sheet-music/mp3player.jsp?productID=10317128&song_url=/audio/10317128.mp3

So the mp3player there is a JSP (JavaScript) program that takes 2 arguments. The first is the productID that will be used to pull the relevant information from a database like song name and other associated information. The second part is the MP3 file that can be played.

If you look at the URL to the file, it starts with a "/" indicating the root. If that wasn't there, then it would be a relative path starting at the "sheet-music" folder. Anyway, I took the base URL and just added the rest of the path to the file "/audio/<number>.mp3" and bingo. That's your file..

Probably way too much information for you, but you did ask..:)

I'm going to imagine that he scoured the source for the file reference (at least that's what I would have done). That method doesn't always work however.

EDIT: Evidently I need to type faster and simplify my solutions (I could have looked at the URL but that would have been too easy...).

@Vansmith, traditionally these embedded players contain the source material in the sources and not in the URL, so I would have gone there next..and also, a lot of them don't allow access to the file either, they obfuscate it sufficiently so that you can only play the files through the player online..

you are awesome!

Well, it worked and it worked on the next file I needed too. all I had to do was replace the song number with the new one and bam. I do know some computereeze so I understood some of that.

thank you again. You saved my sanity! If you are in Chicago I'll bring you a cookie!

Where's the fun in that?

I've managed to get kind of lucky with viewing the sources to find content sometimes. It's tricky sometimes but once in a while, I like the challenge. ;)

Are you sure we're not married to the same person. My wife says something very similar.

Haha, I guess that's the role of the wives..:) though when I think about it, there's very little she allows me to say yes to..;)

there is a class we take in middle school that teaches us how to be mean to our husbands!

LMAO I always suspected there was such a thing. You will of course be summarily drummed out of the gender for letting that little secret out.

Convert audio from webpage to mp3 with a new format.

Please help me. I'm banging my head against the wall. I need a simple way to extract the MP3 from this website.

http://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/mp3player.jsp?productID=10317128&song_url=/audio/10317128.mp3

can anyone help me? I swear I've googled this about 10 times now and I can't get it to work.

I want to be able to download the MP3 to my computer. I have an iMac with Mountain Lion.

thanks

Melissa

I am trying to do the same thing in 2018, but they've changed the web address. I have used this solution in the past without issue, but now they've changed how they're listing music. I am trying to get this particular song in an mp3. Is there any way to do that now that they've changed the way they list their audio files? I'm trying to get this link into an mp3. https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/media-player.jsp?&type=audio&productID=10279053. I've tried to use the same method as was previously given, but it hasn't worked. I know it's something I'm doing, but I don't know how to fix it. I really appreciate any help anyone can give.

Well looks like they got a little smarter by removing the audio URL from the parameters. But it is still available in the code. So for the latest URL posted, the audio file is available at
https://d2fizz4npx5v6x.cloudfront.net/audio/10279053.mp3

Basically, you want to use the format https://d2fizz4npx5v6x.cloudfront.net/audio/<productID>.mp3 to grab the MP3 files. So not dramatically different than the previous system, they've just taken the audio content of their site.
