make macbook multi region

i bought my macbook when i was living in the UK, but i now live in canada.
currently my macbook is set to play region 2 DVD's and i know i could change it to region 1 for canadian/usa DVD's.

however i want to keep it as it is as i bought lots of UK region 2 DVD's with me.

if i bought a canadian external DVD could i use that to play region 1 DVD's. and still use the internal drive for region 2?

i need to do this as i dont own a TV and simply use my macbook connected to a DVI monitor..

if this wont work, does anyone know any other way to make it multi region...

or does anyone know of any Bluray/DVD players that can be connected to a DVI monitor? i think the PS3 can???

This is a question about DVD region codes, not Macbook hardware. If you take a look in the Video forum, you will find quite a few threads about DVD region codes that will answer your question.

since when is an external drive not hardware?

i can find nothing in the video EDITING forum. as its not anything to do with video editing.

tell you what dont bother. ill go to another mac forum where they dont spend all their time being critical of posts and just try to help..
