Settings needed to post iMovie 06 vids on Youtube

I have iMovie 06 and can't figure out the exact settings to post a quality vid on youtube. I want to max out the 100gb limit, and found this site: http://www.lafcpug.org/Tutorials/basic_you_tube.html

and others but these instructions really suck. I've tried to compress a vid under 10 min using these instructions and others but it's taking over 38 minutes to compress and it's only a quarter way done. I've tried tweaking the settings but this is way too slow.

I can post high quality vids real quick with my PC, but with Apple I can't find the combination of settings nor does iMovie tell me the size of the file it's going to export until AFTER it's finished.

What are the exact settings to get the most out of this?

p.s. I've searched everywhere and spent 4 days on this...

Export using the 'expert settings' and set the codec to H264, then experiment with the bitrate, this will vary depending on the length of the video but a good starting point would be 1250. When the video has exported, check the file size, if its only 50meg up the bit rate and if its 120meg lower the bitrate.

But yes video compression/export is a time intensive task, only faster hardware will speed up this process.
