• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I get this error message in safari when I try to watch videos on this site http://www.tv-links.co.uk/
can anyone help me

the page “TV Links - Video” has content of MIME type “video/divx”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.

How do I get a plug in to play this video content. And how Do I install it ?

Download Perian, a QuickTime plugin. As I recall, it comes with instructions on where it goes — the same QuickTime folder that contains Flip4Mac to play Windows Media stuff. Unlike at least one other QuickTime plugin for Divx, it's free, and it handles more than Divx.

My QuickTime folder has only three files, two Flip4Macs (importing and exporting) and Perian. A movie at TV-Links started almost immediately.

Did you quit and restart the browser?

Edit: Could you post the Genesis link? I can't find anything there unless I use a search engine, but I don't think I found the right vid.

It won't play for me, either. Despite the Perian plugin, a yellow warning strip appears above the video window telling me I need the divx plugin.

I clicked Continue, then read some of the licence requirements, telling me that I should expect banner ads and the divx plugin phoning home every time it fires up.

I clicked on I Don't Accept, or whatever it was, and stalked out in a huff.

Hi Kilted1, I just spotted this post and I'm interested to know if you've attempted to install the Stage6 Mac plug-in? I've no Mac so I'm unable to test. We attempted to test all browsers and OS's we had to hand but sadly no Mac!
Take a quick read of http://stage6.divx.com/forum/720/3055/ it may help or attempt an install from http://labs.divx.com/MacOS

I'm glad everyone enjoys Tv Links and make sure you tell your friends :D

Let me know how you get on

You need the DivX plugin, as requested by Firefox (see pic). I suppose Safari expects you to just guess what plugin you're missing?

Sin, there's an installer, but no privacy statement and no licensing terms. Does it phone home?
