    Joining video clips.
    Hi folks.

Is there any way one can join video clips together in Photos? I've just taken a whole series of short clips as the Tour of Britain came through our village and would like to merge them after trimming.

If not possible, why ch is the best/easiest free editor available? I've already downloaded several "freeware" but they prove to be free "trials" and don't allow you to save the finished result so a waste of time!

Ah! Just remembered imovie which I think will do everything I need!

    Thanks

What format are the videos in? There are several programs that can do this but some are rather picky about the format that the initial movie files are in. If the files play using QuickTime Player (already on your Mac) it should be able to join them.

Thanks Slydude. As I edited my initial post to, I remembered imovie, installed it and done the job.
    Cheers!

Good thinking. Now you've got me wondering if it can bw done in Photos. Don't think so but I might have to look at that when I have time.

Not possible in Photos app as far as I can see. You can certainly view video clips in Photos provided these are entered from your camera to the Mac via USB (WiFi only for pictures).

The video clips can be directly imported from Photos to iMovie; or imported directly from your camera to iMovie via USB - either way.

Then you can edit them at will in iMovie.

Thanks for confirming that Ian. I didn't think it could be done in Photos but I'm always surprised at the things I don't know about many, many apps.

The only thing you CAN do in Photos with a video is to clip it or, if imported from your iPhone, you can slo-mo it or the opposite. I inadvertently recorded a small plane takeoff in slo-mo on the iPhone and could revert it to "normal" in Photos.
