• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Just did a screen recording of an Internet stream on Quick Time Player, worked a treat, but no sound?

Is there a setting somewhere one needs to turn on?

By default the screen recording (which is likely what you did) doesn't enable audio input. You have to hit the down arrow next to the red button to choose your input. Unfortunately, you only have internal microphone as an audio source, so if you play the stream loud enough, the microphone should pick it up (but might not be best quality) and you suffer the issue of picking up other noises in your environment as well.

An alternate way is to use a Soundflower plugin to give you the option of recording the output of the stream as an input to QTP. You will need to follow these instructions for that.

If any of that sounds too scary, you might want to wait to see if others have opinions on other recording applications that will do it easily (I don't record stuff, so have no opinions).

Just done a test and works a treat - as long as you remember to change everything over each time.

Many thanks!

Awesome. Yeah, it doesn't persist.
